Redemption: Makes Your Heart Melt

Remember my disdain of some school holiday "gifts" that the kids bring home or that were gifted from my MIL?

You know! Like the turd-colored ornaments and treasures made from dog biscuits, bottle cleaners, and twine. Solely lacking any effort or thought on the teacher's behalf?

So Li'l Man presented his snow day delayed gift to us this morning.

I steeled myself for yet another craptastrophe.

Then along came this handmade 1st grade beauty:

I gushed. So stinking cute. Can't wait to put it on the tree.

...and, yes, you read that right, our Christmas tree is still up shutthefuckupthankyouverymuch.

Even better, it came with this heart slayer from said six year old:

And inside?

"Dear Mom and Dad,
I iprishiate you guys!
And you care for me, (Eldest), and (PB).
I love you!"
Everybody say, "Awwww!" My kids' teachers rock. And Li'l Man? Yep, I'll keep him.

In the meantime, I'll drink coffee and put it on the best mommy coaster ever hand glazed by Miss PB:

Yes, it is an amazing likeness to me. Yes, I do have that exact shade of hair and always wear pink and red together, don't you? And that hair style? Exactly how I looked when I cut six inches off my hair last year.

I know you're jealous.

3 Witty Comments For Me:

I can so relate to horrendous homemade gifts from the kiddos class. And it's not just for Christmas...they come home with stuff for Valentine's and Mother's Day. Some are very cute and clever...others I do try and get rid of when they are not looking...I'm a terrible mom...
You are not the only one with a tree still up! But I was gone for a week so that is my excuse...

I LOVE that snowman ornament! I'm stealing that idea for my kids for next year.

And I just took my tree down yesterday, but the box is still sitting in the living room waiting for Cleatus to put it in the garage. It'll probably be there til Easter.
