Once a California Girl...

I’m feeling a little wrong and a lot wicked.

I realized I WAS FREEZING in my tank top, bare feet and capris in this Seattle winter with my high ceilings working from home.  Then I realized SOMEONE put the furnace at 65 degrees!!  Which with all these windows and skylights, makes it a shivery 62 in the kitchen.  So now the gas fireplace is ablaze and the heat is set to a BALMY 72 degrees...positively WICKED!

So why do I feel so guilty and can only think of  my frugal husband and mother bellowing to, “Put a [insert sweater, socks, pants, clothes, hat on]!!”

You would never, ever know I survived MINUS SIXTY-FIVE degrees living in Fairbanks, would you?

Yep, once a California girl, always a California girl.

(With the $400+ electricity bill to show for it too!)

My conscience haunts me for wasting energy but not enough for me to turn the thermostat below 72. It's just not possible to do anything when you are freezing! Socks and sweaters don't take the chill out of your bones.

I couldn't agree with you more. It's the same way in my house. Thermostat set at 68°, and I'm always freezing!
