Much Anticipated Arrival: It's a New Baby... iPhone 5

Happy belated birthday to my Eldest! The much anticipated iPhone 5 came. Delivery was tracked hourly from China.

I was instructed to wait for delivery and miss crossfit if needed because it was THAT crucial!

He had to wait 6 weeks for his only birthday gift, but I think he will agree it was worth it!!

Heh  so I am jealous!!  I know what I want for Christmas, Santa!!! Hint!

Sent from my OLD, SLOW, SO LAST YEAR iPhone 4

IPhones and Jealous Pups

Walking my awesome pup as he patiently waits for me to stop pointing my hated box at him.

You know...the handheld rectangular, apparently patented, box that takes away his lady's attention and has her stroking that lame iPhone.

Heh! Sent from my iPhone

"Today's #paleo lunch is brought to you by the letter "B" for broccoli. I need to make my #crossfit work out worth it. So far?? Winning!! Officially 13 lbs lighter and actually did a moose (harder than rx "Randy" benchmark workout) today with seventy-five #55 power snatches!! Then added the optional torturous ab work out and confirmed that v-ups, planks, and flutter kicks are not my friend, but still...Woo hoo!! Now I did have to pop motrin (backache from yesterday's work out), pepto and acid reflux meds right before I left, so I did feel older than dirt walking in. However, I will stick to the positive!! I am getting healthier every single day!!! I even signed up for a fall challenge to lose weight and do public weigh-ins with winner keeping the entry fee pot. Big time step for me!!"

FIVE minutes to a creamy heirloom tomato and chicken salad!  Gluten-free and delicious!!

Recipe:

3 tbsp pre-made pesto
1 tbsp mayo
1/2 cup cooked, chopped leftover chicken breast
1 cup heirloom tomatoes, chopped

(cherry or grape tomatoes work great too)

Toss and eat!  Make more for an afternoon snack for the kids!

First Day of School and The Madness That This Mom Thought She would Have More Time Once School Started...

My friends?  Time is flying.  Eleventh grade, eighth grade, and fifth grade!  Yes, school has officially started and I haven't stopped running since it started.

My question?  Why do I always think that school means I will have MORE time.  I've spent the last week shuttling kids to swim and football, grabbing school clothes and supplies and now?  More driving, shuttling to school, and add homework monitoring, form signing, and shopping for even more supplies added to swimming and football.

And yet?  It hit me!

I have less than two more years until my Eldest leaves for college.

Only one more year until my last baby is out of elementary school.

One more year until my baby girl hits high school.

It dawns on me to ignore the busy work and to just embrace the fleeting moments as they come.

For once they are gone, I think I will even miss their eye rolls.

Dove Touchably Soft and Smooth Conditioner: Before and After Pictures

After  a women attains  a certain number of years, the heat, summer sun, and self-inflicted color treatment damages have taken their toll.

Ahem!  Not that I am saying that is me, but if it were me and my hair oft looked like a rough, coarse, frizzy, frazzled ginger tribble?

Before: Frizzy much in humid Milwaukee? Ugh! All natural crazy...

So if...ahem... in a parallel universe, if that was so?  This is the conditioner I would want:

Dove Nourishing Oil Care does smooth rough, dry and frizzy hair
I have to admit I was skeptical when the mail carrier dropped it at my door for me to review.  I have tried many products that have claimed to tame the frizz over the years--most with only limited success. This conditioner came along with some whopping claims too:

"Dove advanced conditioners provide nourishment to repair dry and rough hair
Nourishment is the key to repairing dry and rough hair
Patented technology to repair and nourish dry hair:
  • Fiber Active technology penetrates deep inside the hair strand, helping rebind damaged proteins (Intensive Repair and Color Repair only
  • Patented Micromoisture Serum targets damage, repairing the surface of hair by sealing lifted cuticles "

Hmmm those are some pretty big promises, but with this hair, I was game.  I was immediately impressed with the silky feel to my hair after rinsing and while still wet. Guess what?  None of the signature tangles were evident either!  I even did a blow dry test which usually creates a tangled, static-y mop that no flatiron or gel can tame.  But don't believe me--you be the judge.

Remember in rainy Seattle or worse, hot humid Milwaukee, I turn into this:

Before: Let loose the Kraken Kurls After a Blow Dry

Whereas after using this non-greasy, magical serum of the heavens, my hair looked like this yesterday on a warm, Seattle day:

Hmmm my hair can be this smooth and soft in Seattle?

Not too shabby, eh?

Yep, I am sold. My hair feels nourished, smooth, and silky without weighing it down which is important because--chalk up another flaw to this mane of mine--my once ridiculously thick locks now have become fine and a bit sparse over the years.  Darn those four decades!!

I can't do anything about turning forty, but I can make sure I find products that allay the damage.  This Dove conditioner certainly is a keeper.

And shiny and super soft too!
My friends?  This stuff is pure gold.  It is hair therapy.  They actually have a entire line of conditioners for problematic hair issues?  Speaking of hair issues--not that I have one AT ALL--what would you most like to fix about your hair?
