Evil is Complicated: LOVED Maleficent 3D in Theaters Now #EVILisComplicated #Maleficent

Maleficent is the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the classic “Sleeping Beauty,” reveals the events that hardened Maleficent’s heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora, only to later realize that the child may hold the key to peace in the land.

I had the amazing pleasure to see a preview of Maleficent in 3D last week. My friends?

Blown away.

I went in not sure I would enjoy it. I admit I am not an Angelina Jolie Pitt fan, but am a huge Disney junkie.

However, I left a fan of both Angelina and the movie.

The movie was a perfect twist on a  classic.  My husband was disappointed that it wasn't as dark as the trailers made it appear to him nor did it strictly follow the classic story.

However, as I pointed out to him--it was perfect blend of dark and light to satisfy both children and adults.

I felt the slight twist away from the original brought a fresh prospective. I truly was aghast in horror at the act that inspired Maleficent's evil.  Yes, evil is complicated and I believe every women in that theater felt the  the horror and betrayal as a violation. I was outraged. I am positive everyone was rooting for her and hissing at King Stephen by the end.

As for the kids, there are plenty of bright moments, teaching lessons of remorse and redemption, but some very dramatic scenes that might be a little much for the sensitive five-year-old and under set.

It is PG, not G, for a reason.

That said, without giving too much away, I love like Frozen, it is not a prince, but a strong woman that once again saves the day.  I appreciate Disney's endeavors for promoting women's strength over dependence in their princess archives.  Certainly loving this new page turned!

Did I mention humor, my beasties?

MALEFICENT (rated PG) finally opened in the theaters this week-end and is a must see. My daughter was very miffed I went without her.  So happily I will see a second viewing sometime in my future and I am rarely willing to watch any movie twice! Yep, that good!

Stay complicated, beasties!

I don't go to many movies, but this one I definitely want to see with my daughter! I think the costumes and make up are fantastic too!

I rarely see movies in the theater but I have heard so many good things about this one that I want to take my grandchildren. Thank you for the review.
